The parish is, first, a people. Simply stated, it is a people called together by God. It is a people empowered by the Spirit to make increasingly true and obvious their response to God through Christ.
The Sacrament of Confirmation
In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, which is the first installment of our inheritance toward redemption as God's possession, to the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14)
The sacrament of Confirmation seals the recipient with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Along with the sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist, it makes up the sacraments of Christian Initiation. Moreover, according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, "the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace (CCC 1285)."
Sacramental preparation for Confirmation normally begins in the 7th grade. Enrollment in Faith Formation is required during both years of this two-year preparation period. Children and their parents are also required to attend Mass each Sunday. Regular attendance at class and Sunday Mass is required in order for your child to receive Confirmation. Children receiving Confirmation will also meet separately. First year candidates (all 7th graders or any 8th grader not enrolled in Faith Formation last year) will meet on the 1st and 3rd week of the month and second year students (those enrolled in 7th or 8th grade Faith Formation the previous year) will meet on the 2nd and 4th week of the month. Attendance is mandatory.
Confirmation for Adults
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) offers classes for adults to bring them into full communion with the Catholic Church through the receipt of the sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist). To learn more about receiving the sacrament of Confirmation as an adult, visit the RCIA page.
Confirmation for Teens
We also offer The Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC) for high school-aged children who need to receive the sacraments of First Eucharist and/or Confirmation. Please contact the parish office, if you are interested in our RCIC classes.
